Antifa Protester Allegedly Punches Female Reporter During Charlottesville Protests

Saturday, a female reporter for the Hill allegedly was punched by an “Antifa” during the deadly car attack in Charlottesville, Virginia, as she tried to film the chaos.

Taylor Lorenz was filming the site of the incident that left one 32-year-old woman dead — after a car was driven into a crowd of “anti-fascist” protesters responding to a white nationalist protest in the city. The suspect has been identified as 20-year-old James Alex Fields Jr. He was booked and charged with one count of second-degree murder, 3-counts of malicious wounding, failure to stop for an accident involving a death, and hit-and-run.

Lorenz, who is a former reporter for the outlet, was filming when a nearby shirtless protester is heard in her video asking her to stop filming. When she refuses to put away her camera, he appears to punch her and yells “stop f–king recording.” Lorenz is heard yelling as her phone hits the ground, and others intervene.

Lorenz said on Twitter she was fine apart from being “really f–king pissed,” and she was going to file charges against the man who punched her.

Lorenz later updated followers tweeting that the man who punched her had a warrant out for his arrest.

So who was the handsome young lad that thought it was okay to punch not only a woman but a member of the media? Jacob L. Smith, 21, of Louisa, Virginia. This beauty was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery.

President Trump condemned the violence in a statement:

“We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry, and violence on many sides, on many sides. Above all, we must remember this truth, no matter our color, creed, religion or political party, we are all Americans first.”
