Special Ed Teacher Kari Boll Confesses to Repeatedly Raping Her Student

on

A former South Dakota special education teacher just plead guilty to repeatedly raping a 15-year-old boy.  Kari Boll faced nine counts of fourth-degree rape, nine counts of sexual contact with a child under 16, two counts of sexual exploitation and one count of solicitation of a minor.

Kari Boll 29-years-old.  She is also married.

Details about the minor are sparse, but he was receiving extra help for subjects in school.  Additionally, the boy was working on the teacher’s farm.  While working, he admitted his feelings for Boll, and that is when the tryst began.

Initially, Boll told police that the two waited until the boy was 16.  That’s the age of consent in South Dakota.  Over time, she admitted that the relationship had gone beyond kissing before the age of consent.  During the summer of 2016, the two had sex more than twenty times.  Over ten encounters happened before the victim turned 16.

While these sorts of trysts may seem consensual, the victim’s age means he was unable to properly consent.  As Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Jason Gearman said:

Just ’cause you’re charged with rape doesn’t mean that it’s a forced-type situation. In this case, it’s a statutory rape where they can’t give consent, ’cause of, due to the age.

Boll revealed the relationship by telling a 17-year-old girl that her and the boy were having sex.  Disturbed by the information, the girl told her mother.  The mother and daughter then began collecting Instagram posts and text messages.  Once they believed they had gathered enough evidence, they alerted the proper authorities.

Teachers having sexual relations with students is a disturbing trend in the United States.  The first major case occurred in 1996.  Mary Kay Letourneau was having sex with a 12-year-old student.  The story became a national circus.

The sentencing date for Kari Boll has not been set.

This is a tragedy as it affects the whole family of the child. My child was the victim at 14 of a teacher, say because he was a naval officer too. He decided that bragging to a buddy was ok, and I thank that buddy for reporting him. It took 4 years of nearly monthly court dates, county involvement, DCFS, before he plead guilty to many counts including possessing child porn (my child). These need as much airtime as possible as it shows They can’t get away from it!!!
