Liberal Benedict Cumberbatch “Looked Into” Housing Syrian Refugees – “NOPE”

“F-ck the politicians.  We’ve got to do something about it!”

In October 2015, Benedict Cumberbatch yelled these words during his curtain call for Shakespeare’s Hamlet.  He was denouncing the British government for accepting only 20,000 Syrian refugees into England.  Then, he begged the audience to donate money to the refugees.

Watch the video:

Just two short years later, we’re finding out the leaps and bounds Cumberbatch went to help Syrians.  He “looked into” housing them, but decided it wasn’t for him.

Here is an excerpt from his interview with The Big Issue:

[P]eople were saying, ‘You’ve got a home, why don’t you house refugees?’ And we did look into it. But we had, then, a very new baby – maybe four or five months old.

Maybe people had a point. I understand why some might think I should be housing people instead of complaining about a government not doing it. But I was trying to raise awareness that we can do more as a society. Because I do feel we are able to do more than just recovering bodies.

Notice the severe backpedaling.  Then, notice his excuse: he had a new baby.  If refugees are such caring people, why the hesitation in housing them?  Cumberbatch has a multi-million dollar, five-bedroom mansion.  Surely, there is enough room to house the people he cares so much about.

Alas, while the “evil” British government is able to save 20,000 refugees, Cumberbatch can’t even house one.  Not.  Even.  One.

This is a textbook case of Limousine Leftism.  From their pedestals, celebrities preach what everyone else should be doing.  Then, when they are asked to return the favor, it’s too much effort.

From an interview in 2016:

Politically, I know I’ve got myself into trouble in the past by speaking out of turn.  I know I’m a white, privileged actor, but I also have a profile and a lot of attention on me, and I gladly shine a spotlight on those who need that attention.

If Cumberbatch actually practiced what he preached, maybe we could lend him an ear.  Until then, let’s just file him under “delusional”.
