It’s nice to finally have someone in office that is willing to completely clean out the corruption and start getting things done. One of the most IMPORTANT things on the to do list is fixing the VA, and he is already making good on his promises
One of the nastiest sections of that swamp is the Department of Veterans Affairs, which has been embroiled in a scandal involving incompetent employees, rampant corruption and ineffective services for the past few years.
While very few people were fired under the Obama administration, it appears that things are changing now that Trump is in charge. Two corrupt employees have been fired so far under the Trump administration, The Daily Caller reported.
DeWayne Hamlin, the CEO of the VA Caribbean Healthcare System in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Elizabeth Rivera Rivera, an employee at that hospital, were promptly fired after Trump took the oath of office.
The VA announced Hamlin’s termination in an email to hospital employees, according to DisabledVeterans.org.
“Mr. DeWayne Hamlin was removed from federal service effective Jan. 20, 2017,” the email stated.
Hamlin had been the center of a controversy after he tried to fire an employee who exposed his drug arrest, according to The Daily Caller. When that didn’t work, he attempt to pay her $305,000 to leave her job.
