People are preparing for the worst, not knowing what damage could happen at University of California-Berkeley. Some even being evacuated from the area.

Editor-in-chief of conservative website The Daily Wire and host of “The Ben Shapiro Show” podcast Ben Shapiro will be speaking Thursday, September 14th on the UC Berkeley campus.

Berkeley — as we all know — is the home of the Free Speech Movement where back In 1964, students organized to demand they be allowed open political advocacy, and outside political speakers.

The college has had plenty of time to think about bringing Shapiro, but apparently, many now have changed their minds. That’s why conservative advocates have had a tough time recently at Berkeley, most recently with the violent protests that stopped Ann Coulter and Milo Yiannopoulos from speaking.

It’s a disgrace that conservatives need special security on any campus in America.

Protestors have already started congregating on campus, accusing Shapiro — an orthodox Jew — of “Fascist Intellectual Thuggery in the service of the Trump/Pence Fascist Regime.” This, even after we’ve seen Shapiro often criticize Trump. In early 2016, Shapiro spoke at Berkeley with no problem, but that was all before Trump was elected into office.

The group Refuse Fascism says they’ll be out protesting, though whether there’ll be violence remains to be seen. Berkeley’s Chancellor Carol Christ is trying to re-commit the college to free speech, and Shapiro’s appearance is the first test for the new school year.

The school is taking no chances. Provost Paul Alivisatos says there’ll be “highly visible police presence” and a “closed perimeter” around the building where Shapiro speaks.

Berkeley will also be offering counseling for students, staff and faculty who feel threatened. The school saying not so much threatened by Shapiro, rather just by anything that happens to bother people around the time Shapiro is speaking.

Shapiro will be talking about “campus thuggery”

Shapiro will be talking about “campus thuggery”and the intellectual atmosphere — or lack thereof – at colleges today, claiming universities brainwash students by not exposing them to diverse viewpoints.

Looking into the future; however, Ben Shapiro is the undercard. In just two weeks, Milo Yiannopoulos is going back to the campus, and that’s when you’ll see real fireworks go off, where Berkeley will need A LOT of security! While they’re at it… they should double up on the counselors.
