California Teen Goes Viral After He Found A Wallet With Tons of Cash Inside!

Here’s what happened…

In Elk Grove, California,18-year-old Tyler Opdyke was handing out fliers for a pest control service in the neighborhood. That’s when he came across a wallet in a driveway, and when he opened it, Opdyke found $1,500 cash stuffed inside.

The teen was suddenly faced with two options: keep the money and save it for college, or return the wallet to its rightful owner.

What he did next… is going viral.

Opdyke wanted to return the wallet. Where he found it, was at the home of Melissa Vang, and the wallet was her husband’s. However, Opdyke had one problem. When he rang the doorbell, Vang was home alone with her two young children, and she didn’t answer the door. Opdyke saying:

“I was knocking on the door for a minute or two. I actually heard her little girls…and was wondering why is nobody answering? I’m like how can I find some way to let them know that I have this [wallet]. I was like ‘perfect, here’s a camera right there.’”

What did he do next?

Opdyke saw in the corder of the front porch a surveillance camera. So to help him help Vang, he held up the wallet to the camera, to which Vang immediately recognized what it was. Vang saying:

“I was like, ‘that’s my husband’s wallet!’ It touched my heart for him to return this much cash.”

Once Vang realized what the mystery man at the door wanted, Opdyke was long gone. Fortunately, he left the wallet on her doormat.

“It’s sad that I didn’t trust him to open my door when he was just doing a good deed,” Melissa Vang says of Tyler Opdyke.

Does Opdyke regret his decision?

Even though he’ll be off to college soon, Opdyke says he never doubted which decision to make. The teenager says he has enjoyed some attention, returning a lost wallet to its rightful owner — with all of the cash still stuffed inside — is just the right thing to do saying:

“I’ve been raised in the church all my life and I just felt this is not mine. I don’t know their family. I don’t know what they’re going through.”

The owner of the wallet however, still gave Opdyke a reward for his kindness.

Its great to see an honest young person still exists in our country. While most of todays young people take what is not theirs this young man did not. If parents would place more emphasis on honesty instead of take all you can even if it is not yours the USA would be a much better place.
